Sheng Ramen

Sheng Ramen located across the street from Ballantyne Corporate Pl Charlotte and the Aloft Charlotte Ballantyne

Sheng Raman is one of only ten ramen restaurants in Charlotte and the only one in Ballantyne. Open for lunch and dinner, they accept online orders and they have a middling price range of $13-$15 for most of their food. Dress is flip flops and shorts. A local business, if you are in the search for a nearby restaurant that offers casual Asian dining, Sheng Ramen is one of your best bets.

Their main fare is ramen. The menu features eight different variations, mainly offering different combinations of protein (pork, chicken, vegetable, tofu, seafood) and broth (pork, chicken, miso, soy, curry, seafood) to choose and enjoy. The menu also offers classic Japanese alternatives such as yakisoba. Starters on offer include gyoza (dumplings), takoyaki (fried octopus balls) and seaweed salad (seaweed salad).

The restaurant is rather small, so seating can become an issue, particularly on a Friday or Saturday night. It's family friendly, but also a casual date spot making it popular on the weekends. Despite being often packed, service is quite good. There is a small bar and imported drinks such as plum wine are available, but it isn't the main draw and I don't recommend you visit for that reason. Food is the main attraction.

Bad Daddy's Burger

Bad Daddy's Burger Bar right around the corner from Sheng Ramen

Bad Daddy's Burger is a national burger and bar chain with roots in Charlotte. They are open for lunch and dinner. Online orders are an option as well. Out of all the places in this list, Bad Daddy's is going to be the best for getting a beer or cocktail. Most drinks, along with the burgers, run around $10. Happy Hour is from 3-6 pm. As you an imagine, dress is quite casual: Flip Flops and Shorts.

Their menu is burgers, burgers, burgers. All of them stacked and stuffed to bursting. You have burgers with bacon, burgers with pulled pork, burgers with onion straws, burgers with almost anything you can imagine. Ideally, you'd wash it down with either a thick creamy milkshake or a spicy sweet cocktail; the Bad Daddy's bar has a penchant for adding chilis and habaneros into their mixed drinks.

If you plan on bringing several guests for a casual after work meeting, this is the place. The classic All American menu will satisfy most people and they have easy enough seating for a party of 4-6. They offer outdoor patio seating for those so inclined.

Zinicola

Zinicola after peak hours and near closing. Located in Ballantyne Village near Ballantyne Corporate Pl Charlotte

Zinicola is a locally owned and operated Italian restaurant located in the Ballantyne Village. It is by far the most high end restaurant on this list and has a matching dress code: shoes, pants and a dress shirt are ideal. They are open for lunch and dinner with separate menus for each. Dinner is available every day of the week from 4 to 10 pm except on Sunday. Lunch is available Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 2:30 pm. They accept online orders, but be aware there are differences between the online and dine-in menu.

Regardless, the restaurant's Italian menu is sure to satisfy most guests. Classics such as eggplant lasagna or chicken parmesan are sure to please, while unique items such as porcini rubbed sirloin steak are delicious. Naturally, they have a wine bar to pair with your meal. Be prepared to pay, however. Zinicola is high end and they know it.

If you want to conduct a business meeting, Zinicola's atmosphere and environment is sure to impress. Reservations will have to be made at least a day in advance, as the spot is one Ballantyne's premier date night restaurants.

Mellow Mushroom

Mellow Mushroom also located in Ballantyne Village

Mellow Mushroom is an Atlanta based pizza chain with three locations in Charlotte, one of which is in Ballantyne Village. Open for lunch and dinner, seven days a week, Mellow Mushroom is the best nearby restaurant available for online ordering and delivery. Pizza is always sure to survive the journey from oven to hotel room, and with a journey of only 4 minutes by car, the pizza is sure to arrive in the freshest condition possible. A large pizza costs ~$27, so if you are looking for simple cheese pizza, it probably isn't worth it.

The charm of Mellow Mushroom's pizza, as opposed to any ordinary pizza chain, is in their unique twists on classic pizzas. A fan favorite, Maui Wowie, is a modified Hawaiian; using a pesto sauce base, Mellow adds jerk chicken and bacon with a dash of banana pepper to sharpen the classic salty sweet flavor. If you are looking to stay inside the Aloft Charlotte Ballantyne for the evening, but want a little excitement in your meal, then Mellow Mushroom is the place.
